   Boardwalk, surfers, and a breakfast burrito on the pier.

4. Big Sur

   Big Sur, CA

   Bixby Bridge at sunrise. Stayed at Pfeiffer Big Sur campground.

5. San Simeon

   San Simeon, CA

   Elephant seal rookery right off the highway — hundreds of them.

6. Morro Bay

   Morro Bay, CA

   Tognazzini's Dockside

   Fish and chips watching the sea otters in the estuary.

7. Solvang

   Solvang, CA

   Solvang Restaurant

   Danish village in wine country. Obligatory æbleskiver stop.

8. Santa Barbara

   State Street, the mission, and a long lunch at the pier.

9. Malibu

   Zuma Beach. The water was cold but we went in anyway.
