Ingredients
- 1 cup Moong Dal
- 2 tbsp Desi Ghee
Spices
- Haldi Powder (Turmeric Powder)
- Zeera (Cumin Seeds)
- Red Chilli Powder
- Heeng (Asafoetida)
- Salt
Directions
Pressure Cooking Dal
- 1Rinse the moong dal atleast 5 times or until the water runs clear
- 2To a pressure cooker or Instant Pot add the following and mix well
- 1 cup moong dal
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 tbsp salt
- 1/4 tbsp haldi
- 3Seal the lid and cook based on your cooking method
for 2x the quantity add about 30 more seconds to the cooking time

Tadka
- 1 Heat 2 tbsp of desi ghee in a small sauce pan over medium heat
- 2 Once the ghee is heated add 1 tbsp of zeera and let it sizzle until you can just begin to smell it
- 3Turn off the heat and add the following items and let them heat in the hot ghee for ~30 seconds
- 1 pinch heeng
- 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder
- 4Transfer the tadka over the dal, mix well and serve hot

- Does not go well with rice, roti works best.
