Ingredients
- 1 cup Arhar Dalsometimes called Toor Dal
- 2 medium Tomatoes
- 2 tbsp Desi Ghee
Spices
- Zeera (Cumin Seeds)
- Haldi (Turmeric Powder)
- Red Chilli Powder
- Sambhar MasalaMDH Brand only
- Heeng (Asafoetida)
- Salt
Directions
Pressure Cooking Dal
- 1Rinse the arhar dal atleast 5 times or until the water runs clear
- 2To a pressure cooker or Instant Pot add the following
- 1 cup arhar dal
- 3 cups water
- 2 medium tomatoes diced
- 1/2 tbsp salt
- 1/4 tbsp haldi
- 3Seal the lid and cook based on your cooking method

Tadka
- 1 Heat 2 tbsp of desi ghee in a small sauce pan over medium heat
- 2 Once the ghee is heated add 1 tbsp of zeera and let it sizzle until you can just begin to smell it
- 3Once the ghee is heated, turn down the heat and add the following items and let them heat in the hot ghee for ~30 seconds
- 2 pinches heeng
- 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder
- 2 tbsp sambhar masala
this is where all the good flavor comes from ๐ค๏ธ
- 4Transfer the tadka over the dal, mix well and serve hot

Notes
- Goes well with aloo bhat, zeera rice and freshly cut onions with salt and lemon.
